| He was 16 years old. His older brother Georg Eduard had already arrived in 1846 and was living with a friend from back home, Johann Dröge, but Georg would die from pneumonia in 1851 at age 21. |
  A.W. Foertmeyer's farm was on Old Winton Road in Millcreek Township. This is where his first wife [Elizabeth Kirchof] died in 1871 "Winton Road near Finntown". The two maps above are from 1869 and today.   This is the house currently on the property. The auditor's website says it was built in 1920, so it is probably not the original house, but from looking at maps, it appears to be in the same place as the original house. The barn may, however, be the original barn. | |
